European and American Crane Fly (look like very large mosquito’s) are a problem again this year.  ADULT CRANE FLY have been noted laying eggs in the lawns of many of our customers.  The eggs hatch and the larvae feed on grass roots, often causing severe damage.  The grass damaging larvae will be hatching soon, requiring an insecticide application to prevent potentially severe damage.  If you notice purplish discolored patches, irregular growth, distinctive thinning and/or unusually large numbers of birds feeding in your lawn now thru May you possibly have active Crane Fly larvae.  Below is a picture of what the Crane Fly larvae look like for your reference.
