Ask the Experts: When should I start watering my lawn?

We are entering into our dry period earlier than normal this year. That means it's time to start watering your lawn. It is much better to start early than to wait until your soil gets dry and hard, which makes getting the water down to the roots of the grass much more difficult.

A few things to Consider:
Avoid watering at night
This makes the turf more susceptible to diseases such as red thread and leaf spot
Avoid watering in the heat of the day/afternoons
This will lessen the effectiveness of the watering due to evaporation and can even cause burning of the grass blade
Watering between 5am and 10am is the best, if possible
If you have a sprinkler system, we highly recommend you have it checked by a professional to ensure all the heads are working and properly adjusted.
We see this problem A LOT; having an irrigation system that is not properly adjusted to provide even, complete coverage, is almost worse than not watering at all and wastes your hard earned money.
We want to make sure you are happy with your lawn. If you are watering consistently and still seeing discoloration or poor lawn health, please reach out to us by email, call, or text so we can address any underlying issues such as disease, insect damage, or poor soil health.
